Hello, my name is Sean or, as I have come to be known, Red Fountain Senior.

Let me start off by answering the question in the back of everyone's mind that I am ALWAYS asked about: YES, I am a guy and I like Winx Club. I have enjoyed the series since its “altered,” yet still pretty good, American release on 4Kids TV (which was still the FoxBox at the time).

To give a little bit about myself, I am a freshman in college where I am currently studying mechanical engineering with a focus in physics, which will jumpstart my doctorate program in quantum mechanics. I enjoy video games that include Mario and the Elder Scrolls. In addition, I enjoy designing my own mods to such video games. I’m sure many of you have heard of the game Super Smash Bros. Brawl. I assisted in the creation of the quite famous fan-mod to change Toon Link into the old, famous Nintendo character, Geno.

Now that I’ve nerded you out with my personal background, let’s focus on the Winx. I encountered Winx-Fairies when I was in high school. I was the co-president of the Winx Club fan club (a break off of our anime club). We enjoyed Phoebe’s website and used it as our main source of information due to much Winx-related content still being in Italian. That is how she and I met. I have assisted her behind-the-scenes as an information-gatherer a few times for the website. I also used to be pretty good friends with the person known as BanjoGate, so I was able to get a hold of and post all of the season 4 episodes in the episodes section.

Although I will miss Phoebe, I am still overjoyed that I have the honor to write alongside Emma, Tabby, and the legendary Kikurukina Bal Des’cagel.

I thought that I would share some old memories with you guys today.

I've been a fan of the Winx Club since 2005 and I still clearly remember what the original Winx Club site used to look like. It actually looked like the above image. I believe the above is a screen shot of it. Whenever you would click over one of the girls, it would bring you to a profile where it told you all about them. They also had similar pages for the Trix, too. At the time, it had only season one information.

Oh, how far the girls have come since then....

Is Musa a tomboy or a girly-girl now?

Musa, is that you?

Musa has without doubt gone through the most drama of all the couples in the series. (Let's admit it: Riven is no romantic.) She has also gone through the most physical change in the series. Remember when she use to have short pigtails?

Back in season one, she was known as a tomboy. She barely wore skirts. Even in the welcoming ball, she would an outfit that had pants. She was basically designed to look a little strret-smart with her overly large jeans and sneakers. In the episode "The Show Must Go On!" she wore jeans, a baggy shirt and a beanie hat giving off a construction worker look. Plus, it was revealed in this episode that she came from a difficult background where money was always a bigger concern than music. Despite that, she persevered, she pursued her passion for music and she never deviated from that.

Once season three started, she immediately got longer hair, but kept the pigtails. Character development certainly went through a whirlwind as season progressed. She briefly let her hair down for the ball on Eraklyon and on Solaria. That seemed reasonable to me that she would attempt to look pretty in front of high society.

Then season four came along and Musa arrived on Earth where she let her hair down and started wearing heels and a skirt for her normal outfit. Musa became girlier by asking questions about her hair and she became another point of drama for the series again when Musa gains the opportunity to become famous. She still loves music but she doesn't lackadaisically plays her flute anymore. She jumps on stage and sings with Andy's band. She plays the guitar and helps the girls put up a band.

Is Musa still Musa despite all this? Or have her physical changes made her become something else entirely? Do you like these changes?

Dear new fans of the Winx Club,

It's Kikurukina writing. For those of you who don't know, the four Nick specials that were aired over the summer are not the original "productions." They are the condensed versions of 52 episodes worth of story. That's two seasons! The series first originally aired in 2004.

While the specials are true to their source material, they did leave a lot of information out. I am writing this post today to point out some of the minor but probably important things about series. In this post, I want to address Musa's basic back story: her family and her wealth.

Recently, I received a fanfiction review that made me cringe. My story is about Musa talking to Helia and at some point, she muses about her lack of wealth and low social standing when compared to Helia's fan-made enormous family wealth and fan-made noble family history. (Read it here if you wish.) Basically, I outline that Musa is fairly poor and wishes that she had the wealth that Helia had. This is the review I received:

"Why did you have the need to write musa's social standing? For all we know she could be as rich as stella."

For those of you who don't know, Musa is poor. She is likely the poorest of all the Winx Club members. She is not rich as Stella. She is far from it. This was vaguely hinted at in season one and season two goes into further depth about her history.

Her father is Hoboe and her mother is Matlin (Wa-Nin?). Her mother was a classical singer and Hoboe fell in love with her after seeing one of her shows. If I remember correctly, Matlin gave up a life of success and fame for Hoboe. They both fell in love, got married and then had Musa. They both pursued music passionately despite being a little financially in trouble. One day, Matlin became terminally ill but the family could not scrape enough money to buy the medicine to keep her alive.

Matlin eventually died and Hoboe swore off music. He destroyed ~~most of the musical instruments in the house~~ a cello much to Musa's horror. In season two, he visits Musa at Alfea. At this point, he disapproves of his daughter's dream to pursue music because he believes, from experience, that music does not make enough money. Later on in the episode, Musa goes to perform a song at a concert at Red Fountain. Stormy crashes the party and holds Hoboe hostage. Riven helps everyone to encourage Musa by clapping because her power is music. This gives her the courage and power to fight and defeat Stormy. In the aftermath, Hoboe lightens up about Musa's choice to pursue music and if I'm not mistaken, the episode ends with a scene where Musa visits her mother's grave. (The episode I am refering to is episode 15 of season two. It's called "The Show Must Go On!")

So now you know why Musa is poor and why she has family problems.

Overall, I am sure that this will not be my last post. If you want more details about the episode, I suggest that you watch it rather than have me try to sum it up. (Older fans, feel free to correct me. I'm sure that I am mixing up some of my Cinelume canon with 4kids.)

Blogging Silence

I've been relatively quiet for the last couple of weeks since the Winx Club started playing on Nickelodeon. First of all, I live in Quebec so I really do not have access to the Nick dubs. Second, I have already seen the third season so I am not all that excited to watch it again. I believe that this can be said for most older fans of the series. With all that said, this is why I have not really updated this blog. I simply cannot muster enough interest to blog about something I've already seen nor cannot see again. How many of you are older fans who really don't want to see old news recycled into new news?

Now, my question to you the reader is: do you want me to blog about time-slot changes and episodes for the third season?

If not, I have considered a new sort of project that is roughly outlined here where we can all rewatch the original season one episodes on a certain night and comment on it (nostalgically). It is just an idea.

Halloween in December?

If you will remember correctly, three Monster Mission comics are planned to be released to help promote the HalloWinx doll set. The first one featuring Flora fighting werewolves was already released and can be bought at Muscara.com.

October is finished and so is Halloween. By the time the next Monster Mission (featuring Bloom) comes out, it will be mid-November which is the beginning of the Christmas season for most. By the time that the last one (featuring Stella) comes out, it will be probably a week before Christmas Eve.

Why would Rainbow plan a three-issue Halloween-themed comic series that ends at the height of the Christmas season? Are you going to really be in a Halloween mood during Christmas still?

Season 5: Take everything with a grain of salt

Hey everyone,

I would like to address some recent pieces of news that may or may not be rumours or spamming.

I would like to remind everyone that season five is far from being released. Remember, it will be released in Fall 2012. That is a year away.

Recently, we have received some news about the premise of season five: it will likely take place in an aquatic location. To learn more about it, go here. To see the video preview, go here. Remember, despite the fact that the video preview uses CGI animation, it will be animated using the traditional 2D art that everyone is used to. At first, many fans had voiced their disappointment in the use of the CGI. I said that it might be placeholder art. Our fears were quickly quelled when we found out that it would be in the usual 2D. To see a promotional poster using tentative designs for next season's transformation, go here.

Next, apparently episode titles have been released for season five on the Internet Movie Database. Initially, only three were found and only one of them has been confirmed by Molly Quinn herself: the episode "The Selkies Devourer." All the other episode titles should still be taken with a grain of salt, meaning: accept it with a degree of skepticism. Why? IMDb is an open-source database like Wikipedia. Anyone can edit it. While I do not know the full capacities of a registered user on that site, it is a site run by movie lovers. False episode titles were rampant across the various Wikipedias for the Winx Club page for the latter half of the run for the fourth season and I believe that we should give this phenomenon the same treatment: be skeptical.

Now that fans are more aware about Winx Club on IMDb, I should say that it makes that series just as easy a target for trollers and spammers to...well, troll and spam the Winx Club pages with false information. Remember, the Devilrus incident? I am convinced that there are still people out there who believe that Flyrix, the fan transformation made by Tata, is season five's next transformation. Currently, half of a season's worth of episode titles are out on IMDb, and while I have nothing to disprove those titles, I do know that not everything I read on the internet is true. To makes worst, the mention of Sirenix only appeared today which only makes me doubt further the credibility of IMDb.

The above reasons are why I did not post about the titles on IMDb on this blog. I am waiting for a legitimate source, such as a press release or a video from Rainbow, Nickelodeon or Viacom, before anything happens.

With all that said, according to the title of the eight episode, the new transformation is apparently called Sirenix. While the transformation name does follow the tradition of ending with an "x" and its root word, "siren" (a Greek mythological creature that resembles a woman with varying degrees of bird features that lures men at sea to their deaths by sailing into rocky coasts) does have similar themes about the sea, this is proof of nothing. (Addendum: "Sirenix" is confirmed by Molly Quinn, but I would not hold my breathe.)

My doubt outweights any belief I have for this to be the genuine truth at the moment. This is subject to change but I want to remind people that season five is long from being released. It would kind of suck if we knew what the story of the fifth season was a year before it is even released, no?

Dark Aisha?

In Season 2 and in "The Shadow Phoenix", we see Bloom turn dark through the power of magic. This angry, sullen, watch-me-kill-all-my-friends-happily version of her was dubbed "Dark Bloom." Two seasons later, after Nabu's death, Aisha goes to the side of the not-so-good. However, she rarely, if ever, is referred to as "Dark Aisha" or "Dark Layla" by the fandom, even if people refer to this period as "when she went dark."

Anyone who has seen Buffy the Vampire Slayer can likely see the similarities between Aisha and Season 6 Willow... if not, I won't spoil it. However, I will say that it makes me consider that the main reason our fairy of waves isn't always classified as "Dark Aisha," might have to be because her appearance never changes. While working with Nebula and the Vengeance Fairies, she looks just like a Winx. However, Dark Bloom had a huge appearance change, her outfit darkening and becoming less soft and feminine, as did Buffy's Willow (her hair and eyes turn black).

Does a change of appearance or use of dark magic make a dark character? Or do actions and emotions? What do you think?

I'm hoping that some of that is just placeholder art and will be improved upon release. I am not as excited as I thought I would be but I'm willing to give Rainbow the benefit of the doubt. So how do you feel about the new season being in CGI?

EDIT: (Oct 10) Much to everyone's relief, it has been confirmed in various places (such as Una di noi) that season 5 will be made in its traditional 2D cel-shaded form, and not 3D as shown in the preview clip above. Phew!

If you will remember correctly from an article posted by La Reppublica in October 2010, Straffi mentioned, "…The Winx will confront the oil catastrophe in New Orleans…" (Translated by the Oblivious Prattler.)

By my guess (and by looking at the sea shell tiara on Bloom's head), there will be an underwater theme to the new transformation!

MIP COM is an annual media expo much like the Las Vegas Licensing Expo. MIP COM will be held from October 3 to 6, 2011 in Cannes, France and Rainbow will have a booth (booth R33.01). (Rainbow is a confirmed exhibitor for MIP COM.)

Oh my God, this is exciting!

If you haven't heard from Una di noi already, Rainbow is going to make a special series of Halloween themed dolls called HalloWinx! These dolls will also come with a goth-ified version of their fairy pets. Three minute special episodes and a videogame will also be released in tandem with this series.

This is what the dolls will look like:

The premise for this doll line is that the Winx are dressing up to look like witches to find out what the Trix's evil plans are.

Three special comics, also known as Monster Missions, will also be released featuring three of the Winx fighting horror movie monsters. The first comic will feature Flora (with a sword!) fighting a werewolf; Bloom against a vampire and Stella against a mummy.

Winx Comics at H & J for 15¢ to 1$

H & J Liquidators and Closeouts, Inc is selling the first and second issue of the Winx Club comic for 15¢. These are the comics were translated in English for the 4kids franchise which explains why there is a 4kids logo on the cover. However, there is a catch: H & J sells their products in bulk and so you must buy a minimum of 100 issues of either the first or second issue. They will not let you buy the comics individually.

Also, they are selling the third issue together with a paquet of six Winx Club trading card game cards for 1$ but a minimum purchase of 50 units is required.

Liliana Mumy might voice Roxy

According to Molly Quinn on her Facebook page, Liliana Mumy might voice Roxy. This is not a confirmation for Roxy's voice actor as Quinn only "believes" that it might be Mumy.

Liliana Mumy is an American actress who has played in movies such as Cheaper by the Dozen as well as voiced characters in Cartoon Network's Chowder and Madge in Howl's Moving Castle.

English Winx Club magazines can be purchased at Pelican for under 4$ USD from Singapore. They only have about six magazines up but I'm guessing that there will be more posted as time goes on. They also don't correspond to the original Italian order but at least they are translated.

New Updates On World of Winx!

If you haven't already played World of Winx, the new Nickelodeon game, it's a great time to. The game has expanded from a quick one-round easy puzzle into a multi-setting adventure and strategy game.

Players choose between Bloom, Stella, Flora, Musa, Aisha, and Techna (name misspelling or new spelling?). Once they've selected the character, they can then pick either Charmix or Enchantix form, with Believix coming soon. For the last step, select your setting: outside Alfea College, the Alfea Library, the City of Magix, or the Black Mud Swamp. Two more settings are to be released on September 15!

Race and cast spells to get to Stella's staff, earning points. Sounds easy? Sorry. It's a surprisingly hard game that will exercise your brain. It took me a couple hours to win the Alfea stages, and now I'm struggling over the new additions! But it's very fun.

So, what are you waiting for? Go play!

Okay, usually this is something to go on the home page, but after reading some, er, heated comments, I've decided it best to put this where everyone can see.

I have absolutely no time whatsoever, not a lick, nothing.

Summer's drawing to a close, and I've been running around enjoying the last dregs of it with what's left of my friends (the ones who haven't ran off to university). Also, I'll learn by the end of the week whether or not I'm going to be swallowed by a new job at the recreation center in town while attending my first year of college, soaking up a good $25 an hour so I can get out of this town next year. I don't know what I'm going to do if I get the job, the hours are crazy and I've heard the workload for the teaching program I'm taking is huge.

Anyway, I hope you all understand. I can't be on here 24/7 until I decide to once again take on my role as superwoman.

Oh, and blog-related... I want to give Winx-Fairies a make-over. Does anyone have any ideas? If you want to email winxfairies.site@gmail.com with some ideas, use the word "makeover" as the subject so I can find it buried under all the mail. I'm thinking redesigned headers and backgrounds and tweaking a few things around the site in general... All help appreciated! And all those to-do lists I have to get to...

Yep, I better get busy! Hey, I have to find some way to replace my boyfriend! ;)

Nickelodeon's or Rainbow's Winx Club

Lately, when I scan the news for Winx Club, I read Nickelodeon's Winx Club rather than Rainbow's Winx Club or Nickelodeon and Rainbow's Winx Club. I was under the impression that Winx Club was still going to be owned by Rainbow. Is this a sign? I would like to think that I'm overthinking it. It's very possible that the writers are just not doing their research properly but it is disturbing.

Don't forget: Battle for Magix airs on the 18th of September!

More Than Just Name Changes For Aisha (and a voice for her man)!

So you've probably heard that the fairy we all know as Layla is now Aisha. You've probably grown used to it, even if you don't like it. However, her name isn't the only thing to change.

The Nickelodeon website lists Aisha as "The Fairy of Waves," changing her power ever so slightly. It's not a big change, not even as big as Stella's change from "Fairy of Sun and Moon" to "Fairy of the Shining Sun." But it's there.

Other news in that particular couple shows that we have a voice for Nabu... Will Blagrove. He won't be with us for a while, but it's still some exciting news!

Note: I went to the Nick website, and it looks like either my computer won't load Aisha's page, or they've taken it down. Has anyone seen it?

Anonymous talked to Romi Dames (presumably over Twitter or Facebook) and got the name Morgan Decker for Tecna. Sooo I tweeted her (or whatever you Twitter people call it ^.^) and she said YES! ;)

Mystery Voices

In the new trailer, we get to hear all the important voices (all the Winx Club girls, except Layla/Aisha). I miss hearing Lisa Ortiz as Musa, but I know I'll get used to all the new voices. But that begs the question, who are the actresses responsible for the new voices? We do know a few:

Roxy's Enchantix!

Yep, here it is! Roxy's "official" Enchantix!

This baby was an outfit from the Russian PC game called "Meet Stella", part of which includes a dress-up game where you can try on all kind of different Winx Club outfits. This one was under Enchantix. The hair doesn't look like it's Enchantix-y because it's from a dress-up game. In most dress-up games, you only change the clothes and accessories, so her hair wouldn't have been touched.

So, it's from an official game, right? It's gotta be real!

Not really. I guess the game designer's idea of research was to Google "Roxy Enchantix". The outfit is based on a fan art from DeviantArt's MagiaBelievix.

Either way, it's really cool. I wonder if we'll ever get to see the real thing?

Rainbow Magicland will open the 26 of May. (That's two days from now!)

According to WorldScreen.com's video interview, the parl boasts 35 attractions on Rainbow's various products made for all ages. Most of it is for the family but there are a couple aimed at teenagers looking an adrenaline rush. In the video interview, Straffi says that there is a 5D Huntik ride and a reconstructed Alfea castle, including their classrooms and bedrooms. There is one "fairy ride into the magical world which is very scenic." Next to the school is the PopPixie village which an attraction for little kids. There is also one attraction for Maya Fox.

Taking the easy route has never been Straffi’s strategy. Winx Club was his first huge hit and the series about the teenage fairies has sold around the world. Animation Changes

So I knew there was this huge difference in animation styles in the original and the new Nick dub. But I didn't really get how much until I put them side by side.

Disregard, for a moment, all your lists of differences. Just look upon this in wonder.

I assume this is the same scene (albeit not the same exact moment). All I can say is, wow.

Okay, permission to list differences.

- Stella is in her princess dress (the new, pretty one), and not her Magic Stella. Is there a plot change, or can this be considered a relatively minor thing? When will the transformation sequence be introduced? Besides Bloom, will there even be an individual sequence, or will it just be Bloom and then the group, like it was in the trailer?

-Gardenia in the background looks brighter, and more like a city. From Season 4, you can get that it's really big, as opposed to the smaller town I thought it was in Seasons 1-3. This animation looks more big city to me.

- Different outfits. Yeah. Duh.

- The style seems more anime. And the style seems to make the characters look younger, something I've noticed before. If I put first season and fourth season Bloom side by side, first season has always looked older to me. It's the eyes.

Anyway, do you like it more now that you see it side by side? Less? About the same? I'm tied- I do like it more, but I'm certainly going to miss the old era of Winx Club.

In all seriousness, I'm Tabby, aka LoveLoveLovix. I've been a Winx fan for more than six years- since elementary school, and I'm going to be finishing high school pretty soon. My favorite Winx is Aisha (and I love that name more than Layla, so glad Nick is going to use it), my fave Specialist is Riven, and my favorite Trix is Darcy. But above all, I love Mirta. I wish they had given her a spin-off series instead of the pixies. But hey! That's what fanfiction is for... and I really love fanfiction. And fanart. I'm an all-around fanon fan. :p

What if Secret of the Lost Kingdom was in 3D?

Imagine this scene in 3D. Awesome or not awesome?

It is not uncommon that films get rereleased in the 3D even though they were not meant to. I see new ones on the shelves everyday now.

With that being said and Winx Club: Magical Adventure 3D being released every other week, I do not think it will be long before Rainbow/Nickelodeon decides to release the first movie, Winx Club: Secret of the Lost Kingdom, again, but in 3D in theatres and on DVDs/Blu-rays. Actually, it seems like the most probably move considering that I think Nickelodeon is trying to dub the first movie.

I like 3D movies enough but only when I go to the theatre because it's part of the experience. I could never imagine buying the disc, sticking it in my player, sitting down and then sticking on a pair of unstylish glasses on my face. Plus, buying a TV that supports 3D just seems a little out of my price range at the moment and I'm wondering if this 3D thing is only a fad.

What do you think? How would you feel if Secret of the Lost Kingdom was rereleased in 3D (in English)? Would you buy it? Is the 3D part even worth the extra dollars?

About the caption at 0:58: does that mean that the series has decided to drop the traditional animation style and go for the same animation as in the movies? Or are they just saying "CGI" (computer-generated image) to get us hyped? A lot of the backgrounds in season four were CGI, but the not characters.

Also, are they officially going to use the English dub of the first movie or redub it?

The firm’s recent deal with Nickelodeon means that all future Winx activity will be supported by a long-term, guaranteed broadcast platform.

Beginning this summer, Nickelodeon will air four new one-hour specials in the US, UK, Latin America, Canada and Benelux. These will summarise the first three series and will be followed by series four in the autumn, and five in February 2012 (all co-produced with Nickelodeon).

It doesn't happen often that an American colossus like Viacom sets its sights on an Italian animation studio -- and then, rather than snapping it up outright, agrees to purchase just a minority stake.

But, then again, as Iginio Straffi, 45, the former illustrator and comicbook writer who founded Rainbow Group in 1995, puts it, "there aren't that many properties out there with figures comparable to the Winx."

Created by Straffi, these six trendy MTV-generation fairies, which have become one of Europe's top TV exports, have bewitched tween girls in more than 130 countries, and generated more than $2.7 billion, thanks in part to the theatrical film "Winx 3D" as well as myriad merchandising deals.

The partnership, announced in February, under which Viacom will take a 30% stake in Rainbow, follows a global content agreement inked in September under which Nickelodeon secured TV and merchandising rights to Winx Club in the U.S. and pays TV rights for a large swathe of the planet, including Latin America, Canada and the U.K.

The partnership now expands to the co-development and co-production by Rainbow and Nickelodeon of seasons five and six of "Winx Club." And, significantly, it will open up the U.S. theatrical market to Rainbow's upcoming big-budget 3D feature, a gladiator toon penned by Michael J. Wilson ("Ice Age," "Shark Tale") with the working title "Versus Roma," to be completed in a year. The pic figures to go out Stateside via Paramount.

Viacom's first indication that it had found an important partner in Rainbow might well have been that as soon as the initial deal was signed, it set off a flurry of auctions for merchandising rights to Winx toys, clothes and books, especially in the U.S.

Rainbow has always made a major effort to create properties that lend themselves to merchandising "because we had to, in order to survive and grow," Straffi says.

And Straffi sees merchandising as more than just the revenue stream -- one that accounts for about two-thirds of his business. "If the child reads a book or a comicstrip, or plays videogame, all based on our characters, his interest level will remain high even during the gaps when they are not showing on TV," he says. "It helps the product's longevity."

Straffi is excited about the film side of the alliance, which gives him high hopes that his gladiator spoof, with a budget of more than $40 million, will click with U.S. auds.

This, he says, would mark "the first Italian movie to go out wide in the U.S. since (Roberto Benigni's) 'Life Is Beautiful.'?" But unlike "Life," Straffi's pic will be in English.

"I can only wish that if it's successful, Rainbow will become a constant content provider to Nick and other Viacom companies, like Pixar is for Disney."

But, unlike Pixar, don't expect Straffi to sell outright anytime soon, though a flotation is "possible in a few years with me still at the helm," he says.

Straffi is also looking forward to the May 25 opening of his Rome theme park, Magic Land, comprising attractions based on Rainbow's properties such as "Pop Pixie," "Monster Allergy" and, of course, the Winx.

ROME -- Viacom has acquired a minority stake in Italian animation company Rainbow Group, maker of globally distributed "Winx Club" kiddie TV franchise, in a move that will propel the expansion of the ambitious privately owned studio and boost its bridgehead toward U.S. auds.

Founded in 1995 by former comicbook artist Iginio Straffi, Rainbow is an Italian success story largely thanks to his "Winx," six trendy teenage fairies designed with a style that mixes of Japanese manga and classic Western animation, that have bewitched millions of tween girls in more than 130 countries.

Last year, Viacom's Nikelodeon and Rainbow announced a global content-based partnership centered around "Winx Club" under which Nickelodeon secured TV and merchandising rights in the U.S. and pay TV rights for Latin America, Canada, U.K., and several other territories.

That partnership now expands to co-development and co-production of seasons five and six of "Winx Club," and to two existing theatrical "Winx" movie titles, CGI feature "Winx Club: The Secret of the Lost Kingdom" and "Winx Club 3D: Magic Adventure," which are now likely to be released Stateside via Paramount.

Neither financial terms nor the entity of the Viacom stake were disclosed.
According to Italian financial daily Il Sole 24 Ore, the Viacom stake in Rainbow is said to amount to 30%, allowing Straffi to stay in full control, with plans for a Rainbow Group flotation to follow.

Rainbow, which is based in the small central Italian city of Loreto, with a production outpost in Singapore, also makes the series "Tommy and Oscar," "Prezzy," "Monster Allergy" and, most recently, "Huntik Secrets and Seekers."

The group, which has emulated the Disney model, on a much smaller scale, also has a Rome theme park, called MagicLand, in the works based on the "Winx" franchise and other Rainbow properties.

Winx Club and PopPixie Magazines Available in Québec

The Winx Club and PopPixie French comic magazines are officially available in the province of Québec (Canada). They have been available since July/August 2010. These comics are imported from France. They cost about 9.30$ before taxes and about 10.60$ after taxes. The magazines are published by Panini France S.A. All issues, Winx Club or PopPixie, come with a freebie such as jewellery or school supplies.

They are not releasing the comics in the same order as the Italian ones, but to give you an idea, they are starting with the comics around Issues #60 to present. Issues before #60 are being reprinted in a hardcover book form by Panini Kids. Prior to Panini Kids, it was Éditions Carabas that published the comics in France.

(These are the ones that I have.)

Alongside with the regular Winc Club magazine are two other magazine series that publish the comics: Winx Club Jeux and Winx Club Géant, Game and Giant respectively. Game publishes crosswords, word searches, quizzes, etc with a comic while Giant publishes 144 pages of comics and games (a regular issue is about 70 pages; Giant probably has two comics in it). The regular series is printed every month, Game, every two months and Giant, every three months and they all cost the same price about.

The magazine stand that I bought these comics are in Montreal at Carrefour Agrignon (7077, boulevard Newman, LaSalle) at Tabagie Gateway. The reprints can be bought or specially ordered at any Indigo or Renaud-Bray store. If you know more places where you can buy the comics, feel free to send an email with the address and it will be published with a credit to you.

On a side note, the Maya Fox series by Iginio Straffi and Silvia Brena is also available in Québec (and thus Canada) in French.

According to NickandMore.com, Keke Palmer ("Akeelah and the Bee", "True Jackson, VP") will be voicing the character of "Keisha" in Nickelodeon's dub of Winx Club. The article states:

Possible Season Five Images?

The following are images found on the internet. There is no proof that these images are official screens from season five. For all we know, they could be a leaked technology preview, screenshots from some obscure video game in Russia or fanart. At the bottom of all the images is an address to the Russian blog MagiaDelWinx, for all of those who were curious. The images were found on the blog Winx Club Blog by Olgawinx.

I hope at the very bottom of my heart that these are real.

For those of you crying "fake" automatically because it is not the same animation style that we are used to, it is possible that these are real. If anyone remembers watching the first episode of season four, you might have noticed that that episode uses a completely different animation technique compared to the rest of the fourth season. Episode one used a technique that was completely done on computer using a program similar to the animation program ToonBoom (or the cartoon Angel's Friends) while the rest of the episodes were the traditional "hand-drawn" types, the usual style of episodes that we are used to. However, that does not mean that these are real.

Notice on the very right of the picture is another person behind Musa who may or may not be Roxy judging by the colour palette!

Puzzling, isn't it? The Winx Club are in there season three outfits (with possibly Roxy!), yet Stella is carrying her handbag from her Frutti Music Bar outfit. Is it a bad joke, or is someone hinting at us that these are real by placing Stella's bag (and possibly Roxy!) in the shot?

Only time will tell...

UPDATE 12-21-10: I'm told that this is fanart or from a Russian video game in the comments. That's nice and all, but that is not proof. For all I know, you could be lying. "The Phoenix is an immortal magical bird made from the breath of the Great Dragon. Every millennia, the Phoenix bursts into fire and ash and from those ashes, a new egg is found. The egg is incubated in the hot ashes and a chick hatches. That's how it is reborn. Of all the creatures, the Phoenix is symbolically opposite to the Dragon. The Phoenix is a symbol of femininity as the Dragon is masculinity. I'll leave the rest of the details up to your fellow classmates for next week's class presentation. Now, questions on today's topics?"

A few hands in the classroom went up.

Professor Avalon snapped his fingers and then the class was bathed with light. He answered the questions promptly as the windows' curtains parted to let in sunlight and the professor's magical slideshow on the chalkboard disappeared. The professor continued: "I want to have your groups and your chosen subject in before you leave."

Bloom glanced in her periphery to Flora, silently asking if she could join her group. Flora smiled. Bloom had nothing against her best friend, the blond princess Stella, as a teammate, but she often ended up doing more talking about their boyfriends than actually getting any work done.

Their Bestiary class was ending and Professor Avalon had just finished a two hour lecture on about a dozen of the most socioculturally important magical creatures on their side of the galaxy. Alfea School for Fairies was in its third week of the first semester and about everyone was settled into the weekly routine.

Flora turned and faced Bloom, pulling out the list of creatures that had been discussed.

"What do you want to do?" Flora asked.

"Um…" Bloom was about to say, "Dragon," when she realized that it would be too easy of a topic for her. She was the fairy of the Dragon Fire, after all.

"I don't really want to do Griffins after the Mirror of Truth thing…" Flora said uneasily.

"Yeah..." Bloom agreed. "No dragons, no griffins."

"I want to do Phoenixes."

Bloom readily agreed, liking the idea of researching a beautiful and fantastic bird.

The two fairies stood up and gathered their things to join the queue in front of the professor's desk. They were the last group to write down their name and subject.

There was a knock on the door and Miss Griselda entered, toting her usual clipboard and frown.

"Professor, I'd like to introduce you to your new student." Miss Griselda disregarded Bloom and Flora's presence as they filled out the signup sheet. "This is Topaz, she's a latecomer to the college. This is her first year here, but she being placed in your third year classes."

Topaz was a girl of about medium height wearing an orange dress and her long wavy brown hair was tied in a ponytail. She had sapphire blue eyes with a smile subtly pulling at her cheeks. She held a small stack of books in her arms and she smiled awkwardly at everyone, including Bloom and Flora.

"Hi." Topaz's voice was fairly soft, almost inaudible because of the first-day nervousness that struck every student.

Miss Griselda nodded to Topaz. "I think that you can find your way now, Topaz. I'll leave you to your own devices. Classes start tomorrow at eight and breakfast starts at six-thirty. If you have questions, you can always ask them." Miss Griselda pointed to Flora and Bloom. Sure that her fledgling was in good hands, the disciplinarian left.

"Hello, Topaz," Professor Avalon greeted warmly. "You'll have quite a bit of catching up to do in my class. All of my class handouts and presentations can be found online and there's also some required reading to do. Right now, we have a bestiary presentation due next week. That counts for your final mark so I'm afraid that I'll have to place you in a group." The professor turned to Bloom and Flora: "Girls, would you mind having Topaz in your group?"

"Sure," Flora said. Bloom nodded.

"Good." Professor Avalon wrote down Topaz's name with Bloom and Flora's on the signup sheet. "You'll be doing a presentation on the Phoenix, Topaz."

"Thanks," Topaz said to Bloom and Flora, watching them from under her thick eyelashes. The three fairies walked out of the classroom.

"So where are you from?" Bloom questioned eagerly as soon as the door was behind them. She was always excited to find out where people came from and what their powers were; the diversity was so fascinating! After being raised on Earth, she thirsted for every drop of information about magic.

"I was born on Diamente, but I was raised on Melody. I heard that Princess Galatea is at this school, is it true?"

"Oh, yes," Flora said. "Our friend Musa is also from Melody. She's friends with her. If you don't mind me asking, how come you're starting so late in the year?"

"My mom and I are kind of in the middle of moving and I had to help her, since it's only just us two."

"And your dad?" Bloom pried.

"Why is this any of your business?" Topaz said parsimoniously.

"I'm sorry; pretend I never asked," Bloom said quickly. The fairy felt a pang of sympathy and did not wish to bring up anything painful on Topaz's first day of school. She also felt a little stung from Topaz's reaction as she had not expected the defiance.

"I… never mind," Topaz sighed as she straightened her shoulders and walked ahead of the other girls to their dormitories. Flora and Bloom left it at that.

They arrived at their dorms and that is where they had parted. They agreed to meet together in the library after dinner to start the bestiary project.

"The Phoenix is a symbol of fortune and can be considered the harbinger of good and bad luck. It is unknown how many Phoenixes there are, one that travels across the universe or an entire race of firebirds as diverse as fairies. The Phoenix is universally recognized in most cultures, in one form or another. Sometimes, they can be mistaken for dragons." Topaz closed the encyclopedia and pushed it away from herself.

Across from her, Bloom was finding the same facts in another encyclopedia.

Bloom dropped her pencil. "Our presentation is going to suck, there's nothing on these guys!" The fairy sighed and looked at Topaz intensely. "I don't know if it's right to ask like this, but what are your powers?"

Topaz smiled as pushed a lock of hair behind her ear. "I have powers over gemstones. You know Princess Diaspro, that really crazy one? Kinda like her."

"Oh." Bloom glanced away, refusing to show how affected she was by the name Diaspro. Topaz did not need to know that story.

"Um, are you the Princess Bloom of…?"

"Yes, I am," Bloom answered hurriedly.

Flora summoned a stack of books pertaining to bestiaries and magical birds with a wave of her hand and was disappointed by the small pile before her. Most of them were small and held very little information, or had the same information in different words.

Flora pouted. "If there's nothing here, there's surely something at Red Fountain. They're the ones who specialized in these kinds of things. And then there's also the municipal library in Magix. Maybe we can go on Friday afternoon? All of our classes end early. I can also take a detour in the RF library when I go to visit Helia tomorrow." A slight blush burnt on her cheeks when she said Helia's name.

They all agreed and arranged to meet after class on Friday to grab the shuttle to Magix.

Flora's foray into the Red Fountain library proved much more successful than the one into the Alfea library; however the topic of the Phoenix was limited to ornithological reports, a compiled list of possible sightings and boundless crackpot theories. Bloom, Flora and Topaz were joined by Musa, Layla, Stella and Tecna. Musa and Layla were doing a presentation on Dragons and Stella and Tecna on the Cockatrice.

Normally, one would think that pairing Stella and Tecna together for a project would result in Tecna doing all the work. Tecna, however, was not the pushover who would let that happen. Stella respected that in the technology fairy, as well as Stella could respect anyone. It allowed her to actually concentrate and do the work.

The three groups sat apart in the Magix Municipal Library hunched over old volumes. Topaz wrote down the number of a book that had interested her and that she had found on the digital catalogue. She walked out of the Science section and to Literature section but she did not realize it.

Her fingers danced across the book spines to the end of the shelf. Unexpectedly her hand crossed another that pulled out a book.

"I'm sorry. I need this," the other person said rather rudely as he walked away.

Topaz brushed off the occurrence until she realized that the person had walked away with the book she was looking for. She quickened her pace, trying to catch up to him.

"Hey!" She called out, before realized how loud she was. He had his back to her, and seemed not to even notice, still walking. "Um, hey? Can I check that book for a minute?"

The stranger stopped abruptly, and Topaz almost ran into him. He turned to scrutinize her.

"Strange," he observed. "Do I know you?"

The dark-haired blue-eyed stranger was aboutthe same age as Topaz, or possibly a little older. He was quite a bit taller than her, and Topaz recognized his clothes as very, very expensive brand names: dark jeans, suit jacket and a silk shirt. He seemed out of place in the dusty library.

"Uh, I don't think so. I'm new around here. Look, I'm sorry to bother you, but can I borrow that book?" Topaz pleaded softly, both of her hands clasped together.

The man gave her a blank stare and then turned, replying coldly, "I have somewhere to be. You can have it when I return it."

Topaz glared at his distancing back, mumbling something nasty under her breath. Crestfallen, she sighed and turned back to join the others.

Slowly, Topaz adapted to her new life in Alfea. She knew she had to if she wanted to keep up her good grades.

After a particularly strenuous day, Topaz fell into bed. It was late. Jade, her magical pet mouse, was asleep in her basket that was hung from the ceiling like a bird's cage. She could hear the mouse's little breaths. Moonlight spilt into Topaz's room through the window, illuminating her room in that eerie way that only moonlight could.

The brunette fairy piled some pillows under her chest and crossed her arms. She looked out her window into the courtyard. She could see the opposite school wing from the gap in the curtains. Melancholy fell upon her as she looked at her unfamiliar surroundings. She knew her way around the school, but it didn't mean it was her home yet.

Across the courtyard on the balcony opposite to hers, Topaz saw someone, a woman, step outside onto the balcony and then hop over the railing to make her way down to the courtyard.

Feeling that she was witnessing something that was completely none of her business, Topaz felt compelled to watch the fairy make her escape. She followed with her eyes the escapee who made her way to the school gate. There, a man met her and both of them made their way into the night.

A date most likely, Topaz thought. The brunette pulled the curtains together and curled under her blanket to sleep away the night. She had other things to worry about, like her workshop in the forest to collect plant samples for Potions class.

Debunking Winx Club Rumors

Rumors. The official definition is "a story or statement in general circulation without confirmation or certainty as to facts" (source) and they are quite common to anything that exists - movies, common folks, TV shows, politicians, etc. and Winx Club is not immune to it in any way. Below I listed some relevant rumors and debunked them to the best of my ability. If you object to one of my debunks, leave a comment, but try not to start a fight.

"The Season 5 transformation is '____'"

On the mermaid transformation ("Mermaidix"): The transformation does exist, but only in the Italian book called Sirene, set during Season 3. Scans can be found here. It is not likely that it will be used in the show.

On the fanart pictures by TaTa: See here. They're just fanart. Nothing more, nothing less.

On Gemix: See here.

On every other fan name: Rainbow has yet to confirm anything about Season 5, and that includes the transformation. Don't believe anything until you hear it from Rainbow and/or Nickelodeon.

Tecna's last name is Chandler, etc.

As of Season 4, no character has revealed a last name with the exception of Mike and Vanessa in a book by 4Kids entitled "Secret Powers", where it is revealed to be "Peters". The book is not canon to any dub aside from 4Kids, and even then it may not be valid.

Phoebe's note: I was the one who made up the last name Chandler for a fanfiction I was writing. The surnames Brandt, Sinclair, Valdez, Contee, Chandler, and Kimura are all Phoebe-made.

Roxy is a Winx and there's proof of it.

I would very much like to see that proof. As far as I have seen, there is none.The "Roxy is a Winx" rumors is nothing more than baseless hope.

Roxy will play a part in the second movie.

It has been confirmed that she isn't even mentioned, let alone seen.

Tecna is the princess of Zenith.

Only in the comics. The comics are not canon to the TV show, unless you want to debate that Stella is from Domino and Bloom earned her Winx in Episode 2.

Musa is the princess of Melody.

Never in the original dub is she called a princess. "Melody" strictly refers to the original dub. In the 4kids dub, she is royalty only by blood. As her royal father left the throne, she is not truly a princess and will never run a realm (unless she marries a prince, of course).

The Season 5 villain will be Devilrus.

The Winx girls will become pregnant yadda yadda yadda...

Winx Club is aimed at a fairly young audience. It is very unlikely that pregnancy will ever be mentioned.

Tecna will die because Rainbow thinks she isn't popular enough.

Rainbow is not dumb enough to kill off a main character. Now, before someone brings up Nabu, he was never a main character and we cannot truly prove that he is dead (see here). The target audience for the show is meant to identify with the main characters and it is highly unlikely that any of them will ever be killed off.

While not a rumor, I would like to clarify that the winner of the contest has been chosen, but that Phoebe and Kiku would like to finish their collaboration story based on the winner's character before announcing the winner of the contest. As Phoebe has been busy lately, her portion of the story took longer to complete. You can probably expect the announcement soon, by the end of the year at the latest.

True Love

Sky and Bloom do, in the course of the movie, break up because of a deep-seated betrayal between the families.

Approximately after Bloom and Sky break up, Bloom starts to look at new suitors, most likely at the behest of her parents, Oritel and Mariam. Bloom sees many suitors, none of which she likes until one comes along...

So she is capable of loving again? Or is it only to appease her parents? And who is this mysterious suitor?

It is none other than Sky, judging by his clothes. They are wearing similar clothing in the second and third pictures. I guess true love will always triumph.

Nabu is in Magica Avventura

Hello, Nabu!

Since the movie has been released, we can absolutely confirm here at Winx-Fairies that Nabu is "alive," or rather awake, in the movie. The proof is undeniable. How is he is awake we are unable to answer. It is also unknown as to what Nabu's role in the movie will be.

What had originally happened in season four what that Nabu had fallen into a deep slumber, as said by Morgana in the fateful episode twenty-four, Il Giorno Della Giustizia/The Day of Justice. English Wikipedia says that he had died, however watching the episode in both English and Italian, Morgana says he is sleeping. Why the scene had played out like funeral, we at Winx-Fairies have no idea.

As for the movie, since the Trix break the balance magic in the Tree of Life in the favour of dark magic, does Nabu also lose his magic? What kind of magic does he have anyways?

Is Miriam a Fairy?

It has been a while since the revelation of Bloom's birth parents being magical beings from another world. However, one question that has never been asked before (as far as I know) is bothering me: Is Miriam, Bloom's mother, a fairy? Some might think yes, because naturally since Bloom is a fairy, Miriam must also be a fairy. Some might think no, because there is no real evidence to say that she is fairy.

What do you think?

My favorite part of the official Winx Club site, Gardenia Park, is going to be removed by the end of October. (WAAH! MY OUTFITS!!) I guess I haven't been able to play it lately, but I'll still miss it. It was so much fun! And I have all the outfits, haha! Even if you spent loads of cash on your clothes though, you're getting a refund, don't worry!

We all know BanjoGate, the Winx Club universe's Youtube king. He has over a million hits on his Youtube page from Winx fans all over the world who've watched his season 4 and PopPixie episodes. But Red Fountain Senior tells me that most of his Winx and PopPixie episodes were taken down because of copyright!

Don't worry, you can still watch his subbed episodes! Either way, we'll miss your dedication, Banjogate.
